This piece was made by Deviant Artist Chen2812809638. I wasn’t able to get in touch with her to interview her like usual, so I am going to feature a second by her as well that Artix shared on his Facebook. page.

Fan Art Friday presents “Wherefore Art Thou Gravelyn”

This fantastic piece was created by DeviantArtist GriffinFire. Known in-game as “Arrakis”, this work of apparant Shakespearean influence shows her courting the ever lovely, and less-than-enthused, Empress Gravelyn. Griffin is super nice and let me bug her with my questions after I hunted her down on Twitter.

When I found this, I knew I HAD to learn the story behind it! Griffin did not disappoint me.

I’ve always thought Gravelyn was a great character, and pretty early on I came up with the idea of my character, Arrakis, having a crush on her. Realistically, I thought Gravelyn would be less than enthused about an ultimately Good-aligned pirate pursuing her romantically, so I’ve tended to play that up for laughs. This particular piece was something I thought would be fun for Valentine’s Day. It’s not necessarily Arrakis and Gravelyn “as” Romeo and Juliet, but as the title indicates that was certainly an influence on the scenario.

Reminds me a little bit of my over the top obsession slight interest in Cysero!

Griffin often finds her inspiration in viewing the artwork of others, and has been interested in art for as long as she can remember. She also enjoys writing fiction, some poetry, dabbling in cosplay, and would like to try her hand at making plushies!

For all you techies and artists out there, when asked what tools she uses for her art she replied,

For this piece, I used The GIMP and a drawing tablet hooked up to my desktop computer. Since then, I’ve switched to drawing on an Android tablet.

Fan Art Friday presents “Pirate Captain”

This week’s fun, flirty piece is by Ferozakh! I thought this was appropriate to represent the day of Talk Like A Pirate Day (TLaPD) release today, and TLaPD tomorrow!  Her sweet smile and blushed cheek add a cuteness to her positivity that Beleen would be proud of! And who doesn’t like a little bust??

Ferozakh tells us a bit about how he got into art and what programs he used,

I started making my first Hero Violator art way back in 2008 when I was then 12. Then at around 2010, I started drafting out imaginary items in MS Paint and then sketched out Gibazil on paper. At around 2013, I got myself my first pentab which comes with a free Photoshop Elements 10 software and started mimicking AQW templates.

Later in 2014, [someone helped me obtain a] copy of Flash CS3 and asked me to train myself using my past experience in my art styles back when I make sets with PSE.

And to be honest, Flash CS3 is hard to use, compared to Flash CC.

Soon later I managed to retrace Memet’s templates, I have to watch Nulgath and Dage’s speed art videos to improve myself in art and after August, I moved to Flash CC.

When asked what he looks forward to from TLaPD releases, he hopes they will return to the style they had in 2011, as he felt they were more enjoyable.

Fan Art Friday presents “Final Moments”

Valen had once been a knight, good and noble… Everything he had done, what he had become… it had all been for her. Lynaria, his one and only love. it was for her that he had stood alongside her and Alteon when they fought against the Tyrant king and rebuilt the kingdom from the ashes of war. Even when he lost the battle for her heart, he remained loyal knight and friend to the newly crowned king and queen. For her, he had charged into battle and died… and that he gave up his body, mind, and soul to come back and save her life.
… And now, when she had tried to save him from the darkness that had consumed him, to save what little remained of the man that she had loved as much as her husband… The darkness had taken his body, used his hand to lift the sword that struck the fatal blow. Now, he could only cradle her lifeless body in his arms, tortured by guilt, anguish, and mourning.
Lynaria, the one and only light of his life was gone… because of him.

and yet, deep within the cold armor of the doomknight, the smallest remains of Valen’s soul still refused to be crushed by the vile darkness that had taken the rest of his body. for the small cries of a red-haired infant, coming from another room in the dark fortress, caused Valen’s soul to endure. there was still one little bit of Lynaria left, that and a promise. a promise to protect that last little spark of light.

This emotional piece was created by DeviantArtist, “Thylanos”. Here he shows us the tragedy of lost love from one of the greatest villains in Lore revealing a soft side the undead Emperor.  He says of it,” Sepulchure especially has always been a huge inspiration for me, both in art and how I develop my characters. this magnificent b*st*rd has been in my life for nearly 5 years now, and only a few months ago he has been ‘permanently’ laid to rest. emotionally crippled me when he did die, both times.
Lynaria was a newer character, but she grabbed me by the heartstrings as well when she was introduced in Sepulchure’s backstory as his lover and as the mother of his daughter, Gravelyn (who is probably my second favorite character of all time).” The accompanying description to the artwork is canon to Lore’s backstory of Sepulchure.

When asked what inspired him to make this piece he said, “Sepulchure has always been one of my favorite characters made by Artix Entertainment. when we finally learned more about him, Gravelyn and Lynaria… Well I guess I’m a sucker for a love story and at the time I was sure that would be the last we saw of Sepulchure (how wrong I was). I felt the need to pay homage to my favorite Villain. I wanted to show off a bit of his softer side.”

He made the creation using Autodesk Sketchbook Pro (for you artsy folk looking for programs to try). His inspiration for being an artist comes from “cartoons, mostly.” He goes on to say, “Art and animations are just beautiful, if you can create your own, why not?”

New Segment!

Hello!

If you don’t remember me, it’s fine. I hardly remember me. I am Ellonnah, Princess of Lore. I will be starting a new segment every FRIDAY, called FANART FRIDAY. Pretty self explanatory. I will find a fantastic or silly piece of fan art, and post it, maybe share my thoughts, any memories it may stir, etc. Also, I may add AQWMV (AQW Music Videos, if you didn’t know), fanfics, etc. Anything artsy, clever, and amazing! Every. Friday. I have already set an alarm on my phone to ensure consistency. I look forward to seeing all of your amazing and creative works of art!! If I am really good about it, maybe I will take on a Music Video Monday, too!

EXCUSE ME!!

I just heard that it is OCCAVATRA’S BIRTHDAY!! Now this is a momentous occasion. How he ever finds time to breathe between practically singlehandedly holding this site up, moderating in not only AQW but Epic Duel as well, and being his own person is incredible and I have a HUGE amount of respect for him.
I am proud to work on here with you, and I wish we knew each other so much better, honestly, but I want you to know you are doing an awesome job, thank you. Happy birthday, and may you have many more and some delicious dessert and food! Hugs all around!!! ❤

Season’s Greetings from Ellonnah and Voltage!

It was decided that this post would be a little bit unique and be written by TWO authors! But not just any two authors. You see, it turns out that WE’RE COUSINS! Yes, Ellonnah and Voltage are real life cousins. 2 geeks in a podracer that’s bigger on the inside (if you don’t get the references, we are close and are both geeks).

Ellonnah: This Christmas our families came together. It became mandatory when I was told that I was the only person Voltage even got a present for. How could I say no, right? I knew what I was going to get him, but for kicks, I asked him to pick 3 (or more) heromart.com items $25- and I would randomly select one to be his Christmas present. Secretly, he and my hubby planned just as awesome a present for me as I had for him!

Voltage: I knew she was a Cysero fanatic [Lonnah whispers: It’s true!], and that she was getting me something from Heromart. So I put 2 and 2 together and got 42. I did a little looking around and found the perfect gift: a shirt that had Cysero flying on a piece of bacon! I had to get it. I asked her husband for her size and got ready to order her present. Then, tragedy struck…

Ellonnah: Oh no! What happened?? (I legit can’t remember this part of the story…)

Voltage: They were out! DUN DUN DUN! So I emailed Heromart and asked when they would get more shirts in. They said they didn’t know if they ever would get any more. My plans had been shot down quicker than mauve space ship. I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t think of anything. At the time, I had just bought a digital version of ‘Something About A Dragon?’ from the One-Eyed Doll website to try to win a poster, which I did. I had actually asked them to sign it, not realizing it was digital. They emailed me and, after a conversation, they asked me to pick a CD for them to sign and send. I was looking through the store, when I found the perfect present.

Ellonnah: And it truly was! I love OED so much. Kimberly is truly the bestest ever. Soooo, what did you get meee?

Voltage: It may or may not have possibly maybe almost could have been a shirt signed by Kimberly, OED’s guitarist!

Ellonnah: Oh my gosh, it is!

Best cousin ever, right?? <Chaos Lord Kimberly was here> Now… I was going to get my dearest relative an Artix action figure… BUT!!! (Right? Another “but”, always something interrupting our plans)… My husband was looking and said “A personalized Artix is only $5 more, let’s get him that one.” So we did!  With Daimyo “Arf”ing on the box in shar pei *cough* excuse me… *Sharpie, and a few other doodles, and a signature from Artix, himself, Christmas shopping was complete!

Voltage: I was confident the package would get here in time, because Kimberly said that they were doing a big Christmas shipment that night, but as the days passed, I got worried. Our internet had been freaking out that night, and I wondered if the package had gotten through. But all my fears were put to rest when I opened a package to find Monster, signed by Kimberly, 2 OED stickers, a note, a piece of Laffy Taffy, and Ellonnah’s shirt.

Ellonnah: I want a sticker! What flavor was the Laffy Taffy? Also, I am SO excited for you to be a Paladin HighLord with me! We’re totally the coolest cousins ever. Our Artixes should be friends, I think. I was also pretty excited to open your present when it got here. I wanted to see all the things Artix drew on it and if it was, in fact, autographed. AND IT WAS! Yay!

 

 

The Artix HighVoltage got from Ellonnah for Christmas

Voltage: I think that it was strawberry, Ellonnah. If you want, I can give you the other sticker when I get OoT. I used the other to personalize my Magic case. So, Christmas Eve day, I got a bag, folded the shirt so it looked like a plain white t-shirt, covered it with tissue paper, and put it under the tree. I was so excited. All I had to do was wait. I actually had just got out of the shower when I heard that she was going to be coming over early to talk about AQW (you lied, by the way. I kept looking out the window.) Seriously, she and Issac were the last people to come over.

Ellonnah: In my defense, we were late because we forgot your present… it was worth being late. I would love a sticker for my lappytop, though. Well, I think it is time to wrap this up. I hope you all had an exceptional holiday! What did you get for Christmas? Anything geeky? This is Ellonnah, signing off!

Voltage: And good news! Since I got the Paladin Highlord class, I decided to become good (/cheer). How did I do this you ask? I simply asked King Alteon to cut my knee. He has a good sword arm. Cysero made me a new leg, can’t even tell it’s fake. This is HighVoltage225, and I will post again in 2015. Allons-y!

Thanksgiving in Lore: An Epic Journey

*Ellonnah removes the stuffed jungle vulture from the oven and replaces it with a moglinberry spiced pie. She beckons to Voltage to set the table and asks Occavatra to pour out the drinks for everyone. Dwightt sweeps through the door with a bundle of logs and tended the fire warming the cauldron of gorillaphant gravy.*

‘Volt…. make sure you set a place for Geek. It wouldn’t feel right to not have a place for him.” I smiled softly. “It was kind of him to let us gather for this feast in his home.”

Volt nods and grabs another mismatched dinner set from the cabinet. I scoop the stuffing from the vulture into a dish as Occavatra returns and passes him the dish and a bowl of mashed potato to put out. As he walks away, Volt returns from setting Geek’s place.

“Anything else you’d like me to help with?” he asked me briskly. He liked to help out.

“If you could fill the gravy boats, set them out, and retrieve the steamed veggies and place them?” I replied kindly. A *DING* sounded. “Oh! Pie is ready! Dwightt, could you light the candles? Everyone, sit!” I removed the pie and set it to cool, removed my apron and bustled to the dining room, seating myself between Voltage and Geek’s empty setting.

Dwight spoke up, “Who would like to bless it?”

Occavatra looked across the table. “Ellie should. She put this together, and she’s a priestess.” Everyone smiled a little with a friendly chuckle.

“Well, HighLord.” I said shyly. “Okay, then. Let’s bow our heads, I guess…  This meal is the work of many hands, and we offer you a share. Great ones, accept our grace, and upon our hearth, leave your blessings and care.” A gold glowing shimmer flows over and around the table from my fingertips, blessing the food and the those about to consume it. We all lift our heads.

“Let’s eat!” Voltage says as the energy dissipates, and he grabs a drumstick and tugs at it.

A sudden thud was heard at the door that startled us and we looked up. The door burst open and a figure in a green cloak, dusted in snow, stepped through the door. After shaking away the cool white flakes, long, nimble fingers lowered the hood of the cloak. It was Geek! He made it! I stood from my chair excitedly and gave him a hug, smiling, and Dwightt, Occavatra, and Voltage each greet him with a handshake and a hug, saying hello their “Hellos” and “We missed yous”. We finally all shuffled back to the table. Dwightt began to carve the vulture, I reworked my blessing for Geek; Geek, Occavatra, and Voltage were filling their plates and passing dishes. Voltage even filled mine for me. It was good to have us all together again. The only thing that could make it better was to be joined by the adventurers that are now on their own.

“Now, what is everyone thankful for, today?” I chirped through the laughter and indulgence.

Occavatra swallowed a mouthful of mashed potato and gravy. “I am thankful for my friends, and the AE team for having me be a moderator and for filling me with joy.” He smiled and nodded at Dwightt to go on.

Dwightt cleared his throat before speaking, “I am thankful for all the friends I have made along my adventures over these many years. Go ahead, Voltage.”

“I am thankful for AQW, the amazing opportunity you guys have given me to share my stories, and for knee armor,” he said before taking a large bite of food, chewing quickly and gulping it.. “How about you, Ell?”

“I am thankful for all of the love and support I get from my friends when I need it most. You all are amazing. And thank you all for helping me put this together.” I smiled and looked to Geek.

“I am thankful to each of you for helping to keep this going. To Ellonnah stepping in for Amon and finding Voltage. To Dwightt for acting in my place while I was busy. To Voltage for being enthusiastic and contributing when you can. And to Occavatra for keeping it alive and taking over fully. I can’t thank you all enough, and I really appreciate it.” We all smiled and expressed our gratitude and humbleness, before returning to our meals and chatter.

As the pie was served and bellies were getting full, the excitement began to die down… Until another strange sound was heard from outside. Artix, the great Paladin, burst in through the door! “Guys, we need your help! Undead, fire, turdracken, giant, Cysero!!!” And he rushed back outside to the sounds of yelling and fighting. We all rose and headed out, grabbing our arms and armor. Sure enough, there it was…

A giant, undead, flaming turdracken brought to life by… you guessed it… Cysero.

The Chronicles of Lore – Geek’s Journey, Part 3

*After mourning the loss of the great Vampire queen, preparing her troops, and rising from the dead (multiple times) Ellonnah found a moment of time to sit down, relax, and continue the story of Geek in a quiet, candlelit setting decided she would never find a quiet moment to continue the legend of Optional Geek. She summoned her quill and book, having them float gently above her as an onslaught of undead moved toward her. Her staff glowed bright as she shot spell after spell at them, gracefully twirling and spinning, dodging arrows and daggers. She began shouting and telling the next part of Geek’s legend and the quill swiftly took note of each detail. So it continues…*

 

*As Told By Geek*

 

I remember running out through the rubble and exiting the skeletal remains of the now fallen dracolich. I had managed to retrieve my spear from the armory, thank goodness the fall busted the door to it. There was fire, screaming… I had flashbacks to the maiden in the village. My head ached from, oh, I’m not sure what, even to this day: the knowledge crammed into my noggin, or the crack against my cell wall. Perhaps a mix of both. I walked for days, surviving on a canteen of water from a fallen soldier, and what food I could catch with my spear.

I was hung over and dizzy by the time I reached the lake south of Doomwood. I washed the blood from my hair, and dirt from my face, scrubbed my clothing and hung them while I rested in the cool waters. I looked about and noticed it, at last. purple tentacle infesting the trees, often having green eyes attached. They seemed to watch my every move.

Chaos.

The word flashed through my mind. I recalled memories I shouldn’t have of a dark man called Drakath, his wicked twin sidekicks, and a battle between the King and Emperor. I thought, Could I be dreaming? But, I didn’t feel like I was dreaming. I cautiously got out of the water, let the cool air dry me and dressed before heading east.

Greenguard was beautiful. Sunshine leaved through canopies of rich, green leaves, and animals scurried about everywhere. I followed the path to Battleontown, and found myself having a drink at Yulgar’s Inn. I sat at a corner table with my moglinberry juice and listened in on the story a girl was telling to a bunch of hunters and soldiers of a lost city she supposedly was princess of. I scoffed quietly and finished my drink. As I gave a coin to Yulgar, the bells began to toll… the bells of battle.

I made it out before the crowd trampled me, and made my way into the thick of battle, combining the skills of weaponry from Byron with the agility and balance from Kage. I wasn’t well protected, and I got a bit carried away. A skeleton had sliced my abdomen. I retreated to the center of town where the girl and some other clerics were healing the wounded. “Excuse–” She pushed me out of the way and brilliantly healed a soldier who looked like Death himself stood before him. Another cleric came to me.

“Hello, sit.” she said hurriedly. “This will only hurt a bit, I promise.” She put a salve over my would and muttered an incantation. The wound closed slowly but left no scar. She left without a word, and I returned to battle. There were overwhelming numbers and the fight began to look bleak. A bright light illuminated the town brighter than the sun itself, and a shout rang through the air from atop the Inn. The light flashed, blinding me and shaking the earth below. After it seemed to be over, I opened my eyes and blinked away the spots floating before me in time to look up at the balcony of the Inn and see her collapse. I rushed through the doors and raced through to help her. She was exhausted and breathing heavily. I poked her with the blunt end of my spear. “Miss? Miiiisss?” She groaned and her eyes fluttered open. I smiled, “Need a hand, miss?” I extended my arm and she took it, dusting off her dress. ““The name is Geek, well, OptionalGeek. But you can call me Geek.”

“Ellonnah, but Ell, please,” she replied. She rubbed her hand and I carefully lead her downstairs. I put a couple coins on the counter and helped us to some juice while she sat down. I told her what I saw and she told me about the attack at Swordhaven. We discussed our lack of plans and opted to journey together through Lore and figure out this new invasion of Chaos.
