Fan Art Friday presents “The Divas of AdventureQuest Worlds”

the_divas_of_adventurequest_worlds_by_mechaprime_00-d902hii

Created by player “Mechaprime 00”, this stunning genderbent fan art features our beloved Dage the Evil and Laken the good as sassy, gorgeous pals. When asked what inspired this creation, Mecha said,

“I flipped through old drawings and ran into an old genderbent Dage and decided since Seraphs and Legion were a thing of the time I decided to take on the two awesome designers and draw their characters genderbent for fun.”

I absolutely adore it and am happy to feature it for our first Fan Art Friday! Thank you Mechaprime 00!

New Segment!

Hello!

If you don’t remember me, it’s fine. I hardly remember me. I am Ellonnah, Princess of Lore. I will be starting a new segment every FRIDAY, called FANART FRIDAY. Pretty self explanatory. I will find a fantastic or silly piece of fan art, and post it, maybe share my thoughts, any memories it may stir, etc. Also, I may add AQWMV (AQW Music Videos, if you didn’t know), fanfics, etc. Anything artsy, clever, and amazing! Every. Friday. I have already set an alarm on my phone to ensure consistency. I look forward to seeing all of your amazing and creative works of art!! If I am really good about it, maybe I will take on a Music Video Monday, too!

Angelina’s Walk in a Zardman Forest

(Some of you would picture a forest to be a quiet, bird-chirping place full of trees, but sometimes that is not always the case. Dangers lurk inside a forest any time during the day or the night. This particular forest would contain a tribe of zards the young witch, Angelina Skies ran afoul of earlier today. It all started when Angelina was reading a large textbook underneath a tree with a hallow. She smiled as she contently turned one page after another, though she could hardly keep track of the time. After reading a chapter, she yawned and fell asleep.)

screenshot7

(Three Zardman Hunters spotted her slowly waking up and returning to her book and they snuck up behind her and giggled at her. Angelina was quick to notice them by turning around to face them. Instead of screaming, she was curious about their snickering.)

Angelina: *suspiciously* Huh? What’s so funny?

Zardman Hunter: You wandered into our land. Was that intentional, trespasser?

Angelina: Not really. I still wonder why would that be funny. *She picks up her book, but a hunter taps it with a spear.*

Zardman Hunter: Don’t you touch. This book belongs to us now and you leave. Consider it a token for your visit.

Angelina: *smirking sarcastically* Do you know what else is funny? I thought the zards were illiterate. *The Zardman Hunters laugh like hyenas, yet Angelina is not discouraged.*

Zardman Hunter 2: If we are illiterate, how come we can talk? Can you answer that?

Angelina: Because you can overhear humans talk. You heard me talk just now. *A sphere made of elemental light emits in her hand.* I think you learned a few words from me.

Zardman Hunter: *grabs the book* Hahahaha you got it all wrong, young lady. We are able to read if we can learn.

Angelina: Then I underestimate your intellect, but can you underestimate this?! (The sphere is shaped into a wave that knocks the three hunters off of their feet, causing one to drop the book. Angelina picks up and wipes it with her right hand. The hunters received burns, leaving them stunned temporally.)

Zardman Hunter 2: You defiant girl!!! You are going to answer to our chief for this!!!!

Angelina: Then I’d like a word with him, thank you very much. I’ll go myself. (She walks down the path with the three zardman hunters crawling on the ground, hoping another zard would find and treat them. Back on the path, Angelina reaches its end and starts feeling suspicious.) Now why would the path end here? This is an odd place to see a zard chief. *smiling* The rocks are flat enough to read on. Maybe I can read while I wait. (She walked toward a flat rock and opened her book.) Now where did I leave off? (She is focused on her reading and smiles. It goes on for five minutes when suddenly, a Zardman in armor approached her with an angry look on his face.)

Zardman Chief: They weren’t lying to me at all. There is a human in my forest.

Angelina: *in her head* This must be the zard chief that the spearmen mentioned. I’m really mad he interrupted me. *getting up and point her staff at him.* Tell your lizards to keep it down! I’m trying to read!

screenshot8

Zardman Chief: Yeah, right. I can’t stand human scum here. Weren’t you aware of this place? Of what awaits in here for trespassers like you?

Angelina: No, I wasn’t aware at all and frankly, no punishment will scare me, lizard.

Zardman Chief: *raises an eyebrow* Interesting. Perhaps you aren’t afraid of the penalty I will enforce on you. A rock to your face. (He throws a rock at Angelina, but she kicks it back at him without breaking a leg. The chief is knocked off his feet and Angelina summons a spectral sword. She aims it toward him and the zardman chief blocks the sword with a spiky mace. The sword persists and they engage in a duel. Angelina summons two more swords to attack the chief in case he tries to get her. Soon enough, three spectral swords are slicing and dicing at the zardman chief, causing him to lose his balance, however, the zardman chief hits one of the swords, causing it to fall on the ground and disappear. He soon hits the other swords, causing the same effect, but Angelina performs one last trick up her sleeve. The zardman chief charges toward her and Angelina raises her staff, raising a square rock above the ground and causing the zardman to trip on it, breaking his toe.)

Zardman Chief: *angrily* You witch!!! I’ll get you for this!!

Angelina: Get me all you want, but I’m giving you what you asked for, which is me leaving your domain. Goodbye, lizard. (She takes off, leaving the Zardman Chief completely angered. Angelina retreats to another tree in the distance. Looking in every direction and realizing no one was there, she took a deep breath, sat down, and began to read again.) Peace and quiet. The way I like it when reading a book to study. (Five seconds later, a merchant’s wagon crashed into the tree behind her. While the merchant panicked, this time, Angelina didn’t care. She kept on reading.)

Just a quick reminder before I sign out. Applications to blog on the site are still open and you have all September to write your AQW character’s story. If blogging is something you are passionate about and you want another outlet for your creativity, now would be your chance.

The Journey of Occavatra Book 1: The 13 Lords of Chaos Episode #18: The Upside Down Tower

(No one on the team knew whether they were inside out, outside in, upside down, or sideways upon their entry to the Tower of Relativity. The upside down windows confused the trio.)

Cody: The gravity here must really be strong.

Irene: It’s to be expected, Cody. We’re in an upside down tower. *concerned* Occavatra, are you feeling light-headed?

Occavatra: It’s just the jitters of stepping into an upside down building. I doubt Cody is correct about the gravity, but I feel like we’ll fall off the ceiling.

Irene: *tapping one of the lanterns* Is this even a ceiling at all?

Occavatra: This is confusing, I know, but the important thing is confronting Escherion so the tower can right-side up again. Just walk slowly in case we’ll fall off. (He hesitantly walks toward the door while Irene and Cody follow his head. Cody shrugs with a worrisome blink before going through the archway. The trio walk around the tower and beat down a couple cyclopes, but they soon came to a stop when Irene jiggled at a door, only for it to not budge.)

Irene: *sadly* Oh, geez. It’s locked.

Cody: No kidding. Now how will we get through?

Occavatra: I bet it’s around here somewhere.

Cody: *looking at a glint of gold material hanging on a chain attached to a ceiling* Um, I think I may have found it. *Everyone looks at the ceiling.*

screenshot8

Irene: *shocked* This whole tower is upside down.

Occavatra: If only we can turn this tower right-side up to get it.

Irene: *smiling* We don’t have to. I can boost myself up there with the wind to aid me.

Cody: *worriedly* Are you sure you’re strong enough to do that?

Irene: *gasping at the sight of a silhouette of a cyclops* I don’t know, but I have to try. You and Occavatra go fight the cyclops while I get the key. *gusts of tornadoes form on her fists.*

Occavatra: *looking at the incoming cyclops* Shoot. There is a cyclops! Hurry up, Cody. We can take him.

Cody: *gulping* I sure hope I can. *He unsheathes his sword and blocks an incoming swinging tree trunk.* WHOA!!!! (The tornadoes in Irene’s hands enlarge, causing her to fly off the ground. She takes one more glance at Occavatra and Cody with a worried look on her face before she stares straight ahead at the key.)

Occavatra: Look at her go…. (The cyclops hits his skull, leaving him dazed.)

Cody: OCCA!!!! (The cyclops tries to hit Cody, but he slices the trunk right off in anger, leaving it to fight him with its bare hands. Luckily, without the trunk, Cody was able to knock the cyclops out swiftly.) That didn’t take too much effort. Occavatra, are you alright?

Occavatra: *blinking* I’m not sure. It must’ve been a nasty hit, but I can shake it off.

Cody: If it leads to a concussion….

Occavatra: I don’t think it will. Maybe I can shake it off once I start walking around. *He starts limping while Irene floats to the ground with the key in her hand.*

Irene: I got the key, Occavatra and Cody. *looking at Occavatra* Oh, my. Is he okay?

Cody: The cyclops banged him pretty hard. He says he is okay, but I fear he would be otherwise.

Irene: I’ve noticed he was in trouble from a foot below the ground and it gave me a scare. Are you sure you’re going to be okay, Occavatra?

Occavatra: Yeah, I’m sure I’ll be fine. Hopefully, fine enough to face the Chaos Lord in battle.

Irene: *unlocking the door.* Then let’s go. We have no time to lose. (Occavatra and Cody follow Irene through the door. They encounter another locked door shortly after walking down some staircases.)

Occavatra: Gee, Escherion tightened security around here. Is the key hanging from the ceiling again?

Irene: (looking at the ceiling quickly.) I don’t think so. I don’t see anything shiny. One of the imps must have it.

Cody: *looking at the imps around him.* We’ll split up so we don’t slow down. I just saw an imp passing an object onto another imp just a second ago.

Occavatra: I got that one. Cody, you and Irene block the exits so the imps don’t escape.

Cody: Aye, aye, Occa. (He and Irene run up the staircase while Occavatra pursues the imp. He launches a fireball at it, causing it to drop the key into a bush, much to Occavatra’s frustration.)

Occavatra: I am thankful that I know which bush it fell into. (He reached his hand into the bush and dug around for it. Meanwhile, Irene and Cody, thinking that one of the imps has the key, hold them back and attack them. Their efforts helped keep the imps from leaving for only a brief while, but not before Chaos Lord Escherion watched from a distance.)

Cody: Shoot. Where’s Occavatra when you need him?

Irene: He may still be looking for the key on the other end, but we’re surrounded. *sighings* We are not helpless, though. (The duo unsheathed their weapons while Escherion coldly glances at them. He then departs and a couple dozen more imps were summoned. Eventually, it was too much to handle and the duo is beaten and captured. Just as Occavatra found the key, he heard his name as if someone whispered to him.)

Occavatra: Huh? What was that? I got the key needed. *blinking* Irene? Cody? Are you around? I found the key. *There is no silence. He sighs worriedly.* Where could they be? *frowning* I hope they show up at some point. In the meantime, it looks like I must face Escherion on my own. (He unlocks the door and spies a portal ahead of him after going down another flight of stairs. He beats down the gargoyle guarding it and he enters the portal. There, he finds himself in what appears to be an atlas room. Escherion looks at the map with a determined look on his face, assuming he has a look. Occavatra approaches him and Escherion jerks his head up and stares in his general direction.)

Chaos Lord Escherion: Greetings, Occavatra. I have been expecting you.

screenshot9

Occavatra: We meet at last, Chaos Lord Escherion.

Chaos Lord Escherion: I couldn’t agree more. It is a pleasure to welcome you to the atlas room. Tell me, Occavatra, do you seek great power or a place in my ranks in return for coming this far?

Occavatra: I seek neither, but to face you and end your reign of terror.

Chaos Lord Escherion: That’s diligent of you. Would you also do that for the sake of your comrades? I brought them here because I can’t have them messing around in my plans.

Occavatra: *eyes widened* No….what did you do to them?!?!

Chaos Lord Escherion: Rest assured, Occavatra, your friends are unharmed for now. I planned to spare them if you decided to join me, but they’re not going to last much longer. *He presents Irene and Cody gagged and tied in chaorrupted chains. They are on the floor, barely able to move.*

Occavatra: Don’t worry. I’m going to free you whether that pointy mage likes it or not. *He pulls out the Runix Cube and holds it firmly.*

Chaos Lord Escherion: It can’t be!!!! How did you manage to acquire the Runix Cube!?!? What sorcery is this?!?

Occavatra: It wasn’t sorcery. It was observation and intelligence, both of which are natural qualities.

Chaos Lord Escherion: Like it matters how you found it! Now give it to me and I will free your friends.

Irene: *licks the gag off of her mouth.* Don’t do it! He is trying to trick you. We’ll be okay.

Chaos Lord Escherion: Now, now, young lady, don’t be so modest. Who would you rather believe? Who is there to trust? Come on, do you even have a choice?

Occavatra: *holds the cube back* I won’t give it to you even if you bribe me with Adventure Coins.

Chaos Lord Escherion: I was expecting you would say that. If you won’t give it to me willingly, I will take it from you by force.

Occavatra: *aims his sword at Escherion* Try me. I’m ready to take you down!

Chaos Lord Escherion: *waves his top finger around* Occavatra, who said anything about fighting? (Occavatra blinks in some kind of confusion, but suddenly, a Chaos Spy-eye flew down the ceiling unexpectedly, snatching the Runix Cube from Occavatra. Escherion claims the cube and places it in a empty square hole. Occavatra, Irene, and Cody watch in terror as it shakes alarmingly.)

Irene: Oh, no! What’s happening? *She struggles to free herself, but to no avail.*

Occavatra: *worriedly* Hold on. I’m going to get you out!! *He runs toward Irene to untie her. Escherion immediately notices and he lifts Occavatra in the air with the Staff of Inversion after he untied four or five knots.*

Chaos Lord Escherion: It’s clear you are going to be an obstacle. I can’t keep you here because you are too dangerous. It’s for the best that I banish you from my tower and reinforce security so you won’t intrude on me again! I will see you when the hydra eats you alive. Muhahahahaha!!!!!! (He hurls Occavatra out of the tower, but not before grabbing Irene’s leg, thus Escherion’s levitation pummels them both out of the tower.)

Occavatra and Irene: CODY!!!! *Cody muffles and worries deeply. The duo land in the water just as a hydra head bursts out of the water.*

Irene: Come on, to shore quickly!!!! (She grabs Occavatra’s hand and they swim to shore while more hydra heads burst out of the water. The duo recovers on a rocky shore, but they are still driven to shock when they see six hydra heads wreaking havoc on the beaches. In the tower, Escherion approaches Cody with a wicked smile and Cody starts helplessly struggling to break free while Escherion’s shadow covers him.)

The Journey of Occavatra Book 1: The 13 Lords of Chaos: Episode #17: Every Mission is Possible

(Upon returning to Mobius, Occavatra, Irene, and Cody begin to walk back to the gate where Renn and Zio stand. They look in every direction, hoping that Escherion’s forces haven’t noticed that they’ve collected the three pieces. A fire imp got curious, but the moment he leaped toward the group, Irene blasted a gust of the wind that sent him flying into the lake ten feet away from the tower.)

Irene: Phew, he almost caught us. (No one said anything and Irene understood why. She kept quiet until the team went back to the gate.)

Renn: Occavatra, you and your comrades returned. From the fear in your eyes, I’m afraid you haven’t found the third piece, correct?

Occavatra: No, we’ve found it, but we were worried that Escherion’s forces figured out we collected all the pieces to his bane.

Renn: I see. You’ve done an excellent job. Let me see the pieces so we can put them together.

Occavatra: *handing Renn the three pieces* They’re right here. There you go.

Renn: *looking at the pieces in awe* Wow, they are mystical. I can feel the power flowing within. They should be enough to defeat Escherion in combat. Now let’s see if we can put them together.

Cody: Maybe it’s best if we sit down. Standing people may attract attention.

Renn: Yes, you’re right, Cody. (He and the team sit in a inconspicuous corner of the gate. They fit the pieces together, however, the cube suddenly became distorted and scattered. Renn’s eyes widened in surprise.) What just happened?

Irene: The Runix Cube created a puzzle for us to solve. We need a diagram of what the cube looks like when complete.

Occavatra: I don’t think there is a diagram at all. I can remember what the cube looked like for a split second. Maybe we can switch it around to look like that.

Irene: Okay, what does it look like?

Occavatra: I can’t explain exactly what it looks like, but it’s not that shape. The cube is more all purple on the top and bottom while the runes are on the sides.

Irene: Perfect. That should be a good enough description. (She eyes the cube and she, Cody, Occavatra, and Renn take turns turning the cube around a few times before passing it on to one another. Hours went by and Irene started eyed the cube with intense concentration, turning it softly, but firm.)

Occavatra: Don’t get too frustrated. I am never too good at the puzzle either.

Irene: I’m not frustrated. I just think the puzzle is more complicated than it looks. Does this cube even come with step by step instructions?

Occavatra: That would make it a diagram, unfortunately. *The cube is passed on to him.*

Cody: Your turn, Occavatra.

Occavatra: *begins turning the cube* I mean, we’d have to go back to either the Faerie Forest or Cornelis just to look for a diagram. We don’t have much time for that.

Irene: I know, but these things are frustrating without instruction manuals. I mean, this is no ordinary puzzle cube. It’s an item of great power.

Occavatra: Irene, unfortunately, it’s what happens. In life, we find puzzles and they don’t come with any instructions. We need to figure things out for ourselves.

Irene: *takes a deep breath* You’re right. I’m terribly sorry. A good challenge doesn’t hurt.

Occavatra: No, I don’t think it does, most of the time. *He turns the cube around one more time before giving it to Irene. She makes a small turn and she feels a hint of happiness.*

Irene: Hmmmmm, I think we’re almost done.

Cody: We’re almost done?

Irene: Yes. I just need to make one turn before the Runix Cube becomes whole.

Cody: How do you know we’re close to done if Occavatra only gave us unclear detail?

Irene: He was spot on with it, actually. Take a look, Cody. *She presents the group with the cube. Renn frowns a little and takes a closer look.*

LNsNImZ

Renn: The cube is nearly whole, indeed. This one piece just needs to be turned.

Irene: *yanks the cube back a little* I’m on it, Renn. Hold on. *She turns the piece and the runes begin to glow. Irene stares at it with awe.* Wow….. this object is so beautiful. I can feel the hidden power within.

Occavatra: That’s great. All we have to do now is break into Escherion’s tower and face him.

Cody: Well, guys. Let’s get moving. The faster we enter, the faster we free Mobius.

Irene: Wait, Renn, are you and Zio coming with us?

Renn: No, I’m afraid I cannot join you, Irene. Zio and I are going to stay here to rally the Alliance and help as many people as we can. Escherion is your fight. Good luck. Be careful out there.

Occavatra: You as well. (He, Irene, and Cody run through Mobius and fight a small group of Escherion’s army along the way. When they reached the tower’s front yard, Occavatra slashed his star sword at a cyclops, knocking him out.) What’s with the teleportation device?

Irene: I’m not sure where it goes. Our only clue is that tower.

Occavatra: *smiling* Do you suppose this army swims all the way from the tower to the village?

Irene: I wouldn’t imagine so, Occavatra.

Cody: I wonder where it goes anyway? I want to find out.

Irene: *concerned* Cody, it’s not wise to use this device without knowing where it actually goes.

Cody: There could be another teleportation device in the destination too. If I see something, I’ll return to you and then tell you where it leads.

Irene: Cody, wait! Don’t do it! *Cody steps onto the teleportation device and waits a few minutes to be teleported. Occavatra and Irene try to persuade him to come off, but he wouldn’t step off. He got suspicious after ten minutes and he walks off.* What happened?

screenshot4

Cody: The teleporter is broken. Darn it!

Occavatra: We’ll need a disguise.

Cody: Wait, disguise? How come?

Irene: Do you know where it leads?

Occavatra: I think this device must be the entrance to Escherion’s Tower. He won’t let us in because we’re enemies.

Cody: *frowning* This teleportation block must be Escherion’s anti-burglary system.

Irene: But there is a way to get in unscathed. Occavatra said we need a disguise. *spots one of the cyclops.* Since the cyclopes gave Cody such a hard time, we can pay them back by putting on their clothes.

Cody: No way. I am not going to put on a cyclops armor. I would look ridiculous.

Occavatra: It’s our way inside, Cody. There’s no other way in.

Cody: I’ll just find one my size.

Occavatra: Hold on, Cody. It’s not safe for us to go alone this time. We’ll steal them together. It will make our efforts easier.

Irene: *pointing at a cyclops with a magenta-haired helmet* I call that one! *She rushes toward that cyclops and attacks it. Occavatra and Cody join in by tying it up while Irene undresses it. They make their way towards another after she gathers the whole armor. They repeated the method until they found three sets of armors for themselves. Occavatra and Irene pulled the cyclops together so they would look like they slacked off and tied themselves up on purpose.*

Cyclops 1: Hey, give us our armors back! You three have no business stealing them!

Cody: We do, actually. We have an appointment with the Chaos Lord and we can’t afford to be fashionably late. Enjoy the breezy air. It’s much more comfortable. *He, Occavatra, and Irene ran away with the armors while the cyclopes glared at each other with anger.*

Cyclops 2: I hate this cold breeze.

Cyclops 1: Knock it off. It’s spring. (The second cyclops just looks away with a frown. Meanwhile, Occavatra, Irene, and Cody get in the Faerie Forest to put on their disguises.)

Cody: *shivering* I look like a one-eyed freak.

Irene: *smiling* No, you’re not. You appear completely natural.

Occavatra: I don’t really care much about how we look now. All we are focused on is sneaking our way into the tower.

Irene: Of course. Is everyone ready to get inside?

Cody: Absolutely.

Occavatra: Let’s do this! Let’s end Escherion’s reign of terror once and for all!

Irene: *excitedly* That’s the spirit. Ready your weapons and let’s move.

Occavatra: I sure hope the tower is not as confusing as it looks. (He, Irene, and Cody exit the forest, sneak their way through Mobius, and they eye the teleportation device. Irene raises her top finger to signal the team and they walk toward the device and they stand on it together. In an instant, they vanish to Escherion’s tower. They have managed to fooled its security system.)
